What are you looking for?

Import and Export FSMA

FSMA compliance solutions from SGS – a comprehensive range of services to help you comply with the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

The US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is the most sweeping reform of US food safety laws in over 70 years. It applies to facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold food for humans or animal food. Produce farms, US importers, shippers, receivers, loaders and carriers who transport food in the United States are also subject to FSMA. If your operation falls within one of these categories, then you may be required to comply with the US food safety regulations under FSMA.

We can help you ensure compliance across your food facilities and supply chain with a range of FSMA certification, audit, testing, supplier verification, training and technical services.

Certification

We are accredited to certify foreign food suppliers under the FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program (FSMA TPP). The program is a prerequisite for the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) Certification, which allows expedited entry of food to the US. Upon successful completion of the audit we issue an FSMA certificate that is accredited to the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and recognized by the FDA. FSMA TPP audits can be performed as stand-alone audits, or in combination with other GFSI schemes.

We also provide FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) certification, which is an SGS certification scheme accredited to the ANAB. Under the FSMA FSVP scheme, we audit foreign suppliers to assess their compliance with the applicable US food safety regulations. At the end of the audit, we issue an accredited FSMA FSVP certificate that foreign suppliers and their US clients can use as evidence of FSMA compliance.

Gap Assessments

We offer gap assessments for FSMA preventive controls rules, importer compliance with the FSVP rule, intentional adulteration (food defense), and other FDA regulations. Our gap assessments can be used as stand-alone pre-assessments or as addendum audits with other food safety schemes. They have proven to be very valuable for companies preparing for full compliance with the US food regulations.

Testing

Through our global network of food labs, we can help you comply with the environmental monitoring, water testing, supply chain and allergen management requirements of FSMA. With a variety of FSMA testing protocols and expertise, we provide a one-stop-shop for all your food and animal feed testing needs.

Transparency-One is the FSMA compliance platform that facilitates the FSMA compliance journey by automating supplier verification and approval. We help you track your high-risk ingredients to the source, providing supplier information and document management, reporting and approvals services.
